Footcare International is a family business owned by Barry & Jenny Kearney. It was established over 80 years ago in 1925 by Jenny's Grandfather, George Mitchell, who had a shoe repair business in Smith St Collingwood (an inner suburb of Melbourne). George started selling insoles to George Coles who had a small discount shop in Smith St, nearby. George Coles was G J Coles the founder the Coles retail group.
Barry & Jenny took over the business in 1978.
Footcare International is now the largest Insole manufacturer in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere, supplying Coles & Bilo Supermarkets, Woolworths and Safeway Supermarkets, Franklins and independent Supermarkets, Kmart, Priceline, Payless Shoes, Florsheim and distributors in the shoe repair, shoe retail and pharmacy areas.
Footcare International exports its products to USA, Japan, UK, Italy, Greece, Hungary, New Zealand, and across Asia including Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Taipei.
It makes insoles under its own brand "Footcare" and also under proprietary brands for other companies. It currently has 22 different materials available for insole manufacture, but can source and custom pack any material required by customers (including custom printed logos).
"We are expanding our distribution in Asia, USA and Europe and are looking for new distributors worldwide. Our aim is to become the number one insole manufacturer in the world."
